Toronto 13 Apr 1882 2pg Letter to Anne Smith from her bro William
Lot 25 in our auction Saturday 5th February 2022
Toronto Apl 13th 82
My dear Anne
I saw Smith & Tom off yesterday noon, both well & in good spirits – I enclose a receipt for the thousand dollars left with us till a better investment can be found –
Fortunately Jeffery arrived in time to see Smith & have a long talk with him about North West matters –
Jeffery, Louise, & three children are with us till they can get a house for the summer, so we have a full house, lots of room on the floor yet though, I’m sorry you could not come along – I’ll try to be down your way about the end of June or as to get Lettie for an Islander Arthur & Reggie went to Bowmanville today for a few days, to see the fairbairies, we expect them home again on Saturday.
Tom was not looking very robust & I don’t think will feel very easy till he gets to work & if a few miles away from the “Head Centre” so much better for him – as the story about the Prophet applies then –
All are delighted with Eloise’s beautiful present it is very much praised – also the Eiderdown cover all of which is appreciated
See very busy boy quite – clean here.
