Dear Sir,
By this evening’s express I am advised by Mr. Grigg that my first receipt for £3503-3-0 is returned, as the Government of British Columbia declines to pay unless a special form of receipt is given. I am in total ignorance here what form is required as Mr. Moberly has received no instructions in the matter=
I direct a letter tonight to the Attorney General at New Westminster under care to Mr. Tarbell. If the payments of the other three certificates is to be delayed on account of their alleged informalities. I direct Mr. Tarbell to proceed at once to New Westminster and have some understanding with the Government on the point= In that case he will also hand you a copy of the letter to Mr. Crease for your perusal.
