My dear Wife

I spent Tuesday afternoon and night at Toronto. William and Tom dined with me- the family of the former at Navy island all well Jeffrey travelling in the west next day saw Lewey & Tish at Guelph the latter left for Georgetown to spend a few days- Got to Southhampton  4pm steamer due at 5 but did not arrive till four next morning- had been giving an excursion on the way spending ten hours on it- nice proceedings for a mail steamer I was not very well on the voyage being bilious and suffering from indigestion but today am having a nice rest having lodged in a private house close by the shore of the lake with a fine cool breeze blowing- I saw Mrs. Ridout and children yesterday their boat and ours arrived at the same time- I shall be over a week- 1st See Burpee and tell him to send McLennan here one or two copies of the last reports- and as they are only for his private use a copy of my map might be put in each of them as McLennan was out in B. Columbia and is interested in the surveys but could not understand by report without the map- Johnson will trim the maps and fold them up: after coubling length wise-

2nd Send next title to gummed into book. Two or three copies should also be sent to W. Rowan-

3rd Get Burpee to bring you down three or four copies of reports  without maps as I have them already and I shall write you how to dispose of them- There are maps to put in them in the large chest but they require trimming to about 3/4 of an inch border at the top and bottom and an inch or more at the ends-This can only be done with a straight edge and pen knife- Grant will get it done for you at his office-

Mrs. Hazelwood and family leave on Wednesday for Toronto I saw three of the daughters today who came to church- they are looking very well-

Love to all the children

Yours ever,

M. Smith
