Canada issued a $25 bill in 1935 to commemorate the silver or 25th anniversary of King George V’s reign. About 1,840 of the 160,000 notes that were printed are still believed to be in private hands (or lost) which makes it scarce and valuable.

Siege of Mafeking cover rediscovered
A newly rediscovered Siege of Mafeking cover franked with a 1900 Cape of Good Hope three-pence Robert Baden-Powell stamp (Scott #180) more than doubled its estimate at a west-coast auction on April 2.

“Our 1,350th auction 26th February 2022 was a success in spite of world events,” said owner and auctioneer Brian Grant Duff. “The collectibles market is resilient. We had bids from as far away as the London international show and a normal amount of bidders..”
The following lot offered a used $3 Jubilee stamp, which was tied by a Winnipeg cancel and sold for $708 on a $400 estimate.
All Nations and Canada Stamp Finder brokered the sale of the finest of two known pairs of the 170 year old 12d Black, for $165,000 in August 2021. This pair is illustrated in Howes’ Canada handbook and has previously graced the Pack, Adler, Jephcott, Leggett, Hillmer, and Cantor collections.
