|In October, 2002, Canada Post issued eight 48¢ stamps depicting the highest mountains of each continent, to commemorate the International Year of Mountains and to celebrate "October is Stamp Collecting Month". The unique presentation of the stamps, a circular self-adhesive sheet of mountain shaped stamps, is sure to entice stamp collectors and mountain enthusiasts. We have several sets in the store.
The eight stamps in this collection represent the highest peaks of the seven continents: Mount Elbrus in Europe, Puncak Jaya in Oceania, Mount Everest in Asia, Kilimanjaro in Africa, Vinson Massif in Antarctica, Aconcagua in South America and Mount McKinley in North America. Canada's highest peak, Mount Logan, is depicted on the eighth stamp.
Usually, sets like this are tucked away for safe keeping, and it is very rare to find ones that have circulated, and even more unusual to have a complete set.
