All Nations Exclusive

Imagine a delectable, out of this world, silky, smooth, melt in your mouth Purdy’s Chocolate! That’s what was featured on a Canada Post commemorative envelope on February 8, 2007 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Purdy's.

Richard Carmon Purdy opened his first chocolate shop on Robson Street in Vancouver in 1907. His reputation for superb chocolates grew, earning him the respect of chocolate lovers throughout Vancouver. “Since 1907, the one thing that has remained constant at Purdy’s is our commitment to quality and tradition” said Karen Flavelle, President and Owner. “Purdy’s rich history, scrumptious taste, and years of experience all come together to make each Purdy’s moment an unforgettable one.”

Purdy's Chocolates Centennial Printed Envelopes
In honour of their centennial celebration, ten thousand commemorative envelopes featuring an image of Purdy’s assortment box; an ode to this chocolate maker’s claim to fame – were printed. The pre-printed stamp image is a chocolate wrapped in foil with Purdy’s logo embedded in it. Three chefs stirring a fresh batch of chocolate are portrayed on the cancel. Canada Post graphic designer, Katie Deering said, “I had my work cut out for me on this one, but the hardest thing was not eating the chocolates.”

When Purdy’s chocolates emailed All Nations’ Brian Grant Duff to offer their unsold balance of the Box of Chocolates Covers Canada Post prepared for Purdy’s Centenary in 2007, All Nations was quick to call them, looking to make a sweet deal for clients and Purdy’s.

The Katie Deering designed commemorative envelopes were issued in a limited quantity of only 10,000 pieces, and were a quick sellout from Canada Post. The colourful Box of Chocolates motif proved popular with sweet-toothed collectors everywhere and retail prices rose to $25 and held at that level.

All Nations has a limited number of these attractive covers available on the website at $14.95.
