This is cosmic. A truckload of 2010 Olympic Snowboarding Quarters en route from the Winnipeg Mint to Vancouver felt the Call of Nature Thursday evening. As the truck was rounding a curve on the Trans-Canada Highway just West of Kamloops, a patch of ice sent the truck into the ditch and the roof disintigrated under the pressure of millions of quarters, which spread down 9 meters of embankment.
The RCMP were called in to secure the scene and on Friday, the insurance company covering the load brought in an army of metal detectors to find all the wayward coins.

The quarters spilled out of brick-shaped cardboard boxes of quarters stamped "Snowboard - Do not distribute prior to Feb. 20."
The Mint declined to say what the value of the shipment was worth, for security reasons.
The shipment was recovered within 24 hours and continued its trip to Vancouver on another truck. We hope that this will add to the excitement of collecting this issue.
Thankfully neither the driver or his backup were injured.
