On 30 December 1873 Charles Newton Young, the secretary of the Nanaimo Freemasons, mailed a list of officers to J. McDonald at the Mount Hermon Lodge in Moodyville, Burrard's Inlet. The letter, franked with a 3c Small Queen stamp, received postal markings in Nanaimo, Victoria, and New Westminster, before arriving at the Moodyville Sawmill townsite on 8 January, 1874. The Moodyville Post Office did not open for another two months so there is a Burrard Inlet postmark too.
